Build-to-Order
It turns out, building a shop for one bag, but with multiple parts being optional, or with options(!), makes things look a whole lot more complicated than they really are.
So, I’ve put this page together as a kind of “Option Details”. It will help you when it comes to placing an order.
Size
There are two sizes, Standard and Large.
Standard. 33cm x 40 x 6 Approx 15-17 Litres (zipped-unzipped!)
Large. 35cm x 45 x 9 Approx 19-21 Litres (zipped-unzipped!)
The additional capacity in the Large version is greater than the small dimension changes might suggest. That Large Tote has a decent bit of capacity going on! Here they are hanging next to one another for context. On the left, handles adjusted to Helmet Bag grab length handles, on the right, the large is here adjusted up to over the shoulder tote handles.
Fabric
Main body fabric and lining options are from both Dimension Polyant and Cordura Brand. It’s really hard to be sure that the representation of the fabrics is correctly caught in an image, and then looks right on what ever device you are viewing these on. Look over at the Gallery for more completed bags in various fabrics too :-)
Front Tote Handle
The front Tote handle is a 50mm wide webbing strap. It’s one of the defining aspects of the design, and you can select from the below options.
Components
The rear tote handle flows into the backpack straps, via an Aircraft grade Aluminium “crash lock”, OR a Fidlock Magnetic “V” buckle. Either works well, but the Fidlock gives you that magnetic snap kudos, so this just comes down to your personal preference and style. The Fidlock option comes at additional cost, but if you know, you know!
Internal
The tote is purposely simple in its structure. It’s a do-anything style of bag with adaptable carry methods. But that hasn’t stopped me from pushing for the highest internal quality I could. The base has a DOUBLE layer of body fabric as standard AND a 3mm EVA closed cell foam panel to offer structure and base protection. The rest of the bag is not padded on the “Lite” versions, but incorporates a 3mm EVA closed cell foam to the whole back panel on the “Fully Loaded” versions. This gives you additional protection, and helps soften any lumpy items against your back.
“Fully Loaded”
The Divider Panel: On the “Fully Loaded” versions, I add an internal panel to create a laptop “section” at the back. This is made using lining material and includes twin zipped 14cm deep drop pockets. There’s a picture below of a Tote turned inside out so you can see those details.
The Organiser Panel: In addition to The Divider Panel, the “Fully Loaded” versions have an Organiser Panel to the front inside wall of the tote. This is perfect for the quick access EDC bits you might carry, a couple of pens, phone, keys, a multi tool and some gum. Whatever. It will usually be constructed from the external fabric selected for your tote, unless you have selected a lining upgrade, in which case I will use that.
Lining
The standard lining is a black poly-cotton twill. I chose this for is soft finish and more lifestyle feel. The fine twill weaving gives this midweight fabric a very smooth touch. This fabric fulfils typical requirements concerning abrasion resistance and tear-resistance. It is perfect as strong lining for the tote.
But, YOU wanted Lining Upgrades!
In the shop you can now find other alternative lining options. After adding your tote to the cart, you can also select and add one of the lining Upgrades.
An X-Pac VX07 is available in white. This gives you a super bright liner, making locating your gear easy, and giving the inside of your tote a super tech style. It really pops!
A second X-Pac, the VX21, is also available in various colours. This gives some serious POP and personal flair to your tote build and equally brightens the whole inside something wild.
Lastly there is now an Orange 500d Cordura option for lining. I use this “reversed” so that the PU coated side is visible. It gives it a tactile feel and a nice point of difference.
Now shop the Tote!
